more yarn bargains and knitting update

At knit night last night one of my friends had bought a pack of ten novelty scarf yarns from local Wilkinson store and dished them out - I remember when these were a craze and I had about three but they are long gone now, we are all going to knit them up and wear them together!!  should be fun!  funky fur scarves - lovely!

Some lovely better than half price yarn bargains!  three balls of the delicious cashsoft 4ply these will be made into lovely gloves for the winter.

And finally, two lots of the scrummy-yummy Fine Lace by Rowan!  three of the top, and five of the bottom I hope to have enough to knit a cardigan and the rest will be used for shawls!

Elsewhere, Dingle sleeve two is coming along nicely and guernsey triangle is progressing too, I have got my knitting mojo back and am looking with interest at future patterns!

Tonight we go out for a meal to say "goodbye" to our no.1.son who goes back to Uni this weekend, and "goodluck" to our no.2.son as he starts HIS uni on Monday having had "freshers week" this week.  Our elder son is studying Politics and our younger English Language, we are proud of them both with neither of us getting anywhere near a degree its lovely to see them have opportunities.

Finally the weather has been glorious this summer and its all washing on the line to finish off the summer holiday and prepare for winter it has been getting chilly so I can't wait to get the winter "woollies" out again, we knitters do prefer the winter for obvious reasons and I always feel more inspired to knit at this time of year.

I hope to catch up with long time knit-pal-Sally soon so if she's reading this - give me a ring! I want to see your lovely new sewing machine and squish some wool!! ha-haa!!

Guernsey Triangle

I am knitting the lovely Guernsey Triangle - this is charts A and B - the pattern is lovely to follow and very well written out and is a charted pattern.  My knit-pal gifted it to me for my birthday and I am using some of the lovely half price fyberspates 4ply I bought recently.

progress is coming along too on my other project, Dingle, I am 1/3 way through second sleeve and hope to get more knitting done now that the holiday is over and the weather has turned cold I shall feel more inclined to knit.

We turned our heating on last night it was that cold and I am starting to sort through my winter jumpers and cardi's too.  I have a couple of sock patterns I fancy knitting and my feet were that cold last night I went to bed wearing a pair of hand knit socks!!

Our summer holiday Sept 2013

Last week we were away in Spain, Calella, enjoying a lovely family holiday - the weather was terrific!  we enjoyed a couple of days on the beach, a trip to Barcelona to see the sights and the "fountains" and of course enjoy the company.  It was nice all being together and we are lucky that our children still want to come away with us and spend time with us.
Having said that, a week was just enough! ha!
